Abraham Eugene DeMarrias, better known as “Abe”, age 59 of Ft. Kipp, MT passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Ft. Harrison, MT after a long battle with lung cancer.
Abe was born July 21, 1948 in Poplar, MT the son of the late Matthew and Jessie (McKay) DeMarrias.
He is a Vietnam Veteran as he served in the US Marine Corps and earned the rank of Lance Corporal.
He married the former Carol Small October 25, 1997 in Ft. Kipp.
Abe had worked for the former Indian BIA Road Department for 18 years and 1 year for the Indian Rural Road Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver.
Abe enjoyed his family, children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to all the Brockton Warrioers basketball games, was an excellent gardener and loved to hunt.
He is survived by his wife Carol DeMarrias; one son Abraham DeMarrias, Jr. of Havre, MT; and one daughter Abrienne DeMarrias of Ft. Kipp, MT; two grandsons Leroy Brien, Jr., and Jesse DeMarrias; two granddaughters Brittnay Brien Rylee DeMarrias; a brother Casper DeMarrias of Ft. Totten, ND; four sisters; Gladys Comes Last of Wolf Point, MT, Vicky Spotted Bull-Azure of Wolf Point, MT, Ethelene White Hawk of Brockton, MT and Priscilla carpenter of Ft. Kipp, MT, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents Matthew and Jessie DeMarrias, two daughters, Terry DeMarrias and Andrea DeMarrias and a stepson Christopher Douglas; three brothers and six sisters Mildred DeMarrias, George DeMarrias, David DeMarrias, Margaret Adams, Delores DeMarrias, Barbara Lee, Wayne DeMarrias, Jeanette Copperdahl and Olivia Sherman.
The wake will be Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the James Black Dog Activities Center in Ft. Kipp with a service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the James Black Dog Activities Center in Ft. Kipp.
