Agnes Baerg

Agnes Baerg, age 96, of Wolf Point, MT went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.

Agnes was born April 11, 1913 in Bingham Lake, Minnesota the daughter of Peter and Eve (Becker) Unrau. As a young child, the family moved to Lustre, MT where she attended grade school and Bible School.

Agnes married Ruben Baerg at the Bethel Lustre Mennonite Church on August 30, 1936 and to this union was born four children: Malcolm, Karen, Eileen and Eugene. In 1943 Agnes and Ruben bought the former A.C. Wall farm where they made their home. Agnes was an active farm wife and mother. She loved to quilt and sew clothing for her children. She planted a large garden each year and canned the produce in the fall. In 1955 Reno Robinson joined the family as a foster son.

Agnes was baptized and joined the Bethel Lustre Mennonite Church. There she showed her passionate love of reading by being on the library committee. She would read each book before it was approved to be put on the church library shelves! She also contributed many hours with the Church Ladies Aide including: quilting, rolling bandages and many other mission projects. After the tragic death of their son, Malcolm, Agnes and Ruben became especially involved in the youth activities of the church and foster care.

Agnes and Ruben retired to Wolf Point in 1978. When the Bethel Lustre Church closed they joined the Bethel Wolf Point Church where she was also active in the Ladies Aide. They were married for over 53 years. Ruben passed away January 20, 1990. In her later years Agnes attended the Community Bible Church in Wolf Point enjoying the Christian fellowship there. She felt so honored to be chosen as their Valentine Queen in 2008!

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Malcolm, husband, Ruben, brothers, Peter, Henry and Toby Unrau, sisters, Anna Unger, Susan Toavs, Eva Stunkart and son-in-law, Howard Waller.

Agnes is survived by two daughters, Karen Waller of Plentywood, MT and Eileen (Donald) Traeholt of Lustre; son, Eugene (Kathy) Baerg of Altoona, WI; foster son, Reno Robinson of Great Fall, MT; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Lustre Christian High School, Community Bible Church or the mission of your choice.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 28 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Community Bible Church in Wolf Point with Pastor Wayne Bergen officiating. Interment will be in the Bethel Mennonite Wolf Point Cemetery.
