Agnes Ward

July 14, 1942 — November 24, 2023

Agnes Mabel Ward (Looks at Buffalo (81) made her journey to the creator on November 24, 2023 in Poplar, Mt at Poplar Hospital with loved ones and her grandson Mikel Jr. at her side. She was born on July 14 th , 1942 to Lucille Davis (Snell) and Lewis Snell, and was 1 of 8 siblings Jimmy Snell, Kenneth Snell, Margret Snell (Bigleggins), Edna Snell (GrayHawk) Roy Snell, Duey Eagle, and Rosemary Eagle (Morsette). Agnes was born and raised in Poplar, MT and later went to complete Beautician School. Agnes met and later married Dallas Ward and from this union Tanya Ward (Steele) and Mikel Ward Sr. were welcomed into the world. The family moved to Bismarck, ND for a few years then moved to Williston, ND. Agnes and family suffered a tragic loss of her husband Dallas Ward September 2,1981 and shortly after would later move back home to Poplar, Mt, it was here, where she would then go on to reunite with John Longee and from this would later marry. Agnes started working with B.I.A. Social Services, she was a certified foster parent and opened her home to foster children when she could. Agnes continued work with B.I.A. as well as an attendant of Ft. Peck Housing Authority, she was a part of the Poplar Committee Organization, and would later become a valued member of the Poplar Enrollment Committee. Anges really had a passion for helping people especially if they didn’t know how to help themselves. She enjoyed speaking up for people who didn’t have a voice. She was very brave for all those who needed her and whoa, when it came to her own, you didn’t want to be in her way. When it came to her grandchildren Agnes loved baking for them, making each one a ginger breadman during the holidays as well as other baked goods. Grandma liked going for long cruises and visiting with her grandchildren as she would let each one take turns driving but not before buying them a soda pop and a big bag of chips. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren and foster children out to pick whatever berries were in season and was always prepared. Anges loved sewing and would sometimes have family and close friends over to help stitch quilts and would visit and laugh and tease. Her favorite food was always fried potatoes with hamburger and onions, especially when her grandson Mikel Jr. cooked it for her, and when she could she would take everyone out to eat together.  She most of all enjoyed the company of her grandchildren, she loved her grandchildren,  teaching them in more ways than one, whether it would be cooking or baking, sewing, cleaning and organizing, running errands, there was always a lesson to be learned and was very proud of each of them for always trying their best at whatever it was they were doing  and always reassured them that things would always find a way to work out, but” how grandma?” was always asked, grams would say “because I know it will! And it always did, someway, somehow. Grandma you are truly missed, and will be forever in our hearts.
