Alfred James “Aj” Iron Bear Jr.

August 20, 1985 — September 11, 2022

Alfred IronBear, Jr. (Tȟáȟča Duzahaŋ) “Swift Deer” passed away to the Spirit world on Sunday, September 11, 2022. He was welcomed with open arms of family waiting for their baby.

AJ was born August 20, 1985 to Alfred and Marzetta (TwoBulls) IronBear in Poplar, MT. AJ was the baby of the family with 2 older sisters. He attended school in Poplar. AJ worked at Buckhorn as a cook and at West Electronics. He also had different jobs here and there throughout his adult life. He was always willing to help out anyone in any way he could.

He was raised traditionally and in the pow wow circle. He danced old style grass taught to him by his cousin Troy. He enjoyed competing and singing at many pow wows.

AJ enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends., listening to music and throwing horseshoes. He also liked to play basketball in his healthier days. He was so proud of his kids, nephews and nieces with all of their accomplishments. Especially his Dennis, always bragging about Dennis playing basketball and now college football.

In December 2007 his daughter Ashlyn IronBear was born. She was his “Queen” as he referred to her, he was so proud of her. In November 2008 his son Alfred “Alfie” IronBear III was born. Alfie and his dad were inseparable, and he loved his baby boy. His kids made his life complete. He loved his nephews (Dennis Red Eagle, Kwon and Raidyn “Baby” Dukes and his niece Rayna Dukes like they were his own.

AJ is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Marzetta IronBear. His sister Amber IronBear, his grandparents Harry IronBear, Sr., Mary Red Feather IronBear, John and Nancy TwoBulls, very special cousin Dana Lezard, numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

AJ is survived by his children Ashlyn and Alfie; sister Lisa IronBear-Dukes; brothers Jay WhiteHead and Charles TwoBulls; uncles James IronBear, Tony (Patrice) IronBear, Ivan Roberts, Wayne (Evetta) TwoBulls, Bud (Patsy) TwoBulls; aunts Linda (Dave) Lezard, Myra (Jon) Daniels, Cheryl (Butch) Boyd, Francine TwoBulls, and Gloria Buckles; cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and friends who he took as family.

Sorry if I left any one out. AJ was loved by so many as well as he held so many close to his heart.

Dad, brother, and uncle we will miss you and love you more than you will ever know.
