Allen Wayne Russell II, 40, of Poplar went to be with the Lord on December 24, 2021 at the Poplar Hospital with his oldest daughter Alleen by his side. He was born in Poplar, MT to the late Brenda C. Drum and Allen Russell.
Allen was raised in Poplar on the Fort Peck Reservation where he was an enrolled member of the Tribe. Allen attended Poplar School in his younger years, went to Brockton School and later came back to Poplar where he graduated in 2002.
He met Laureen YellowHammer while attending Brockton School. They married, later divorced, but remained friends. From this union they had 7 children; Alleen, Princess, Malcom, Allen III, Kyra, Maryah, Preslie. He got to meet his grandchildren Sandra and Marilynn while here on earth.
Allen attended United Tribes Technical College 2005-2006. He went firefighting, worked various jobs, McDonald’s, Sherman as a cook, he worked on vehicles, he always had a helping hand, especially working with Bryce Kirk. He liked hanging out with is friends, listen and sing to music while playing board games,“God of War” and “need for speed”. Allen was an avid basketball player, one of the best post players around. You would always see him at a ball tourney or at the culture center. He won many tournaments and co-ed tourneys. He sure loved to dance when he heard music. Our dad was always joking and laughing around. He had an unforgettable “Kool-Aid” smile.
Allen had many adopted brothers and sisters’ special sisters, Stacey Summers, Sasha and Tasha FourStar, Demiree Russell and Sariah Red Eagle and numerous ones that we may have left off.
Allen is survived by his father, Allen (Verdine) Russell, his 7 children, brothers, Michael Russell and children, Brian (Trudy) Eder, Sr, Darrell Follette, Sr., Raymond and Ira Track, sisters Autumn, April Stormy, Traci Russell, cousin Curtis Red Eagle, Jr., Dalanna (Mike) Youngman and children, special aunt/sister Yolanda Parshall and family, adopted mom Kate Youpee, special sister Sariah Red Eagle, whom he loved spending time with; any where you saw her, Allen would be near. Extended families include Drums, Long Foxs, Grays, Red Eagles, Boxers, Crowfeathers, Parhsalls.
Allen is preceded in death by mother Brenda Drum, step father Harold Firemoon, Allen Lester, Luelle Russell, Neal Drum, Viola Crowfeather, niece Chelle Follette, sister Ida Crowfeather, Toni Eder, aunt Mary Drum-Savior, Audrey Hatten.
