Almeda Belle Looking “Windy Woman” was born July 28, 1936 and went to be with our Lord on Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Billings Clinic of natural causes.
She was born in Poplar, MT to Jeanette Looking and Clifford Looking, Sr., who was a pipe carrier that served the Assiniboine people in ceremonies. She attended and graduated from Flandreau High School. She married Joseph Escarcega Jr. and to this union, four children were born; Joel, Janet, Toni, and Dana. She had numerous nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of whom she adored very much. She was an active member of the Southside Assembly of God church. She spoke Nakona and enjoyed attending powwows and ceremonies as well as spending time with her family, friends, and grandchildren. She loved to write letters and post cards to family and friends, read and recite bible verses, visiting with people, playing bingo. She brightened everyone’s day with her great sense of humor and personality.
She is survived by her children, Joel Escarcega of California, Janet Escarcega, and Toni Escarcega both of Wolf Point; sisters, Zola Baptiste and Alameda (Baptiste) Rocha; grandchildren, Blaine Escarcega, Richard Arnold, Jr., Janielle Derden, Joseph Billie, Michelle Tibbetts, Billy “BJ” Escarcega, Rachel Escarcega, and Michael Escarcega all of Wolf Point; and numerous great grandchildren and relatives.
Almeda is preceded in death by her parents, Jeanette Looking and Clifford Looking, Sr.; son, Dana Escarcega; siblings, Bessie (Looking) RedDog, Clifford Looking, Jr., Benjamin Looking, Nellie Looking, Vincent Looking, and Merida Baptiste.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 25 at the Community Hall in Wolf Point. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 26 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point.
