Amanda Ellen Hardy, age 32, died Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, MT.
Amanda was the youngest daughter of Robert and Kathleen Beisner. She was born in Houston, TX. She married Quinn Hardy on June 11, 2005 in Manhattan, KS and they had one son, Kellen.
She had affection for animals of all kinds at an early age, especially horses and dogs. She also adopted a corn snake, and a tailless lizard. She raised gerbils, cared for the school’s guniea pig for a summer, and organized anti-drowning efforts for the junebugs by the family’s pool. Her family moved frequently when she was young. She spent time in Texas, Florida, and California; but the family’s roots always remained in Manhattan, Kansas.
Amanda was a lifelong learner. She graduated from Newbury Park High School in California. She completed Bachelor and Masters of Science at Colorado State University and later completed credits for a teaching certificate at MSU-B. She had begun a new job as the Physical Science and Chemistry teacher at Wolf Point High School in August. Her students regularly commented on her use of big words. She would respond that she was “proud of her extensive vocabulary.”
Amanda loved being out of doors. Her hobbies included horseback riding, biking, snowboarding, walking with her family, swimming, and camping. As a girl, she was a member of the Girl Scouts and as an adult as a troop leader.
Amanda is survived by her parents, Robert and Kathleen Beisner of Portland, OR; her sister, Rachel Cornett of Raleigh, NC; and her husband, Quinn and son, Kellen of Wolf Point.
