Amber Leigh Iron Bear (Tatanka Duta Win “Red Buffalo Woman”), 35, passed to the Spirit World on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Billings Clinic with her family by her side.
Amber was born on October 1, 1979 to Alfred and Marzetta (Two Bulls) Iron Bear in Williston, ND. Being the oldest of 3, Amber attended school in Poplar and graduated in 1999. She worked for Tribal Express and Fort Peck Headstart as a teacher aide.
Amber was raised in her traditional way, taught to her by her grandmother Mary Iron Bear. She danced old style Jingle Dress and enjoyed competing and traveling to various Pow-Wow’s. She served on two Pow-Wow committees, the Badland and Poplar Indian Days as Princess.
Amber enjoyed traveling, listening to Pow-Wow music, playing machines, visiting friends and family and watching her son dance Grass and Sing Indian.
In 2002 she met the love of her life Darryl Red Eagle, in which he called her his Indian wife, they had one son Dennis Melvin Red Eagle on December 16, 2003, the joy of their lives. Her world fell apart with the passing of her Indian husband Darryl in 2012.
She is preceded in death by her husband Darryl; father Alfred Iron Bear, Sr.; grandparents John and Nancy (Gibbs) Two Bulls and Harry Iron Bear, Sr. and Mary and Timothy Turning Heart; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Amber is survived by her son Dennis Melvin Red Eagle; mother Marzetta; brothers AJ (Kyleen) Iron Bear, Jay Whitehead; adopted brother OJ Grey Bear; sisters Lisa (Reginald) Dukes; adopted sisters Jaime Two Bulls, Shannon Lezard and Denise Bear; sister-in-law Maureen (Rick) Dionne; uncles Wayne (Evette) Two Bulls, Bud (Patsy) Two Bulls, Anthony (Patrice) Iron Bear, Grandpa Arnold Eagle Boy, Oakshina, Lonnie, James Iron Bear; aunts Linda (Dave) Lezard, Beth (Jake) White Bull, Myra (Jon) Daniels, Cheryl (Butch) Boyd, Bernadette (Mike) Dimes, LaVerda Eagle Bear, Francine Two Bulls, Charmaine Iron Bear, Gloria Buckles, Grandma Donna Chase; nieces and nephews and cousins.
