Anna Elizabeth Pickthorn

January 12, 1920 — June 13, 2008

Anna Elizabeth Pickthorn, 88, went to be with her Lord on June 13, 2008. She had currently been living at the Anna Sundermann Homes in Seward, NE.

Anna was born January 12, 1920, the sixth child of Mathias and Bertha Fachner. She attended Volt School until the eighth grade when she had to stay on the homestead farm to help with her other brothers and sisters. Her main “chore” on the farm was milking the cows.

She married Lyle Pickthorn on May 12, 1940, who had proposed to her over the back of a cow that she was milking! Lyle and Anna then went to work in a coal mine south of the river where Anna was the line cook. When World War II started, they moved to Butte, MT where Lyle worked in the copper mines. They moved back to Wolf Point in 1945 where they raised their family.

Anna was well known for her apple pies and date filled cookies. She had a love for petunias and her yard was manicured; not just taken care of, but manicured. When her youngest child went to high school she worked out of the home for the first time. She clerked for Kamp and Nedrud Hardware Store and Triple Supply.

But the thing that Anna did best was…….She knew how to pray. And, also, she knew how to get answers to her prayers. She prayed for her family always. She loved and served the Lord her entire life. She was a remarkable lady who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; son, Lane; and grandson, Scott.

Anna is survived by her children: Jerry Pickthorn of Sheridan, MT, Judy Ferdina of Mesquite, NV, Ron Pickthorn of Las Vegas, NV and Cheryl Rich of Garland, NE; brother, Arlie Fachner of Missoula, MT; granddaughters, Danielle Pickthorn of Belgrade, MT and Carly Rush of Helena, MT; grandsons, Matthew Harris of Wahoo, NE, Darren Pickthorn of Wenatchee, WA and Ryan Harris of Lincoln, NE; two great-grandsons, Braden Harris and Gabriel Harris of Wahoo, NE.

“There is no place like Home,” Anna would say. And with the house that Lyle built, Anna made a home. “Home,” filled with a Mother’s Love. “Home,” filled with the aroma of homemade bread, apple pie and cookies. “Home,” filled with Christian values taught by a Christian Mother. Softly and Tenderly Jesus called, “Come Home, Anna, Come Home.” “Home,” a destination.

Memorials may be made to the family (Cheryl Rich, 1688 Branched Oak Road, Garland NE 68360) for Missions, to further God’s Kingdom.

Funeral Services will be Friday, June 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wolf Point.
