Bertha Fredrickson

May 9, 1920 — February 1, 2016

Bertha Fredrickson was born May 9, 1920 to Karl and Caroline Schlepp at Wasson Flats, Montana. She went to see our Lord on February 1, 2016.

Bertha met and married Walter Braun. To this union they had two boys, Dennis and Bill. Bertha worked at many jobs during her lifetime. Her and Walt owned and operated a motel in Miles City, she also worked as a nurse, Xray Tech, and receptionist for many hospitals and doctors in Washington. One of her favorite doctors was Dr. Herman in Colville, Wa.  She loved to cook and entertain. Everyone said when Bertha invited people to the house she would be heading to the kitchen.  The staff at the nursing home said you didn’t leave her and Jim’s room without biscotti and caramel corn.  Bertha was always worried whether her friends and family would have enough to eat.

After Walt died Bertha said she would never get married again. Jim Fredrickson started calling and writing to Bertha after his wife passed. They were married June 15, 1991 in Colville, Wa.  Bertha moved back to Montana and lived on the farm with Jim until they moved to Wolf Point in 2014. After spending time with Bertha and Jim, Bob Erickson once said he thought a second marriage looked like fun. Bertha and Jim did have a lot of fun. They traveled, danced, held hands and played tricks on one another.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Caroline, her first husband Walter Braun, and her son Bill Braun, and 15 of her brothers and sisters.
