Bertrand Harding Slunaker, age 89, of Billings, MT and formerly of Wolf Point, MT went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 6, 2010 at Valley Health Care in Billings.
He was born in Froid, MT on November 3, 1920 to William Alfred and Myrtle (Kennedy) Slunaker.
Bert married Margaret Stella Pederson on October 12, 1946 and they spent 48 years together before her passing on August 6, 1995.
Bert was in the Army Air Corp during WWII as an aircraft A-P mechanic and after the war he worked as a diesel mechanic with 30 years of employment at Hansen Implement.
Bert was a proud member of the American Legion and loved traveling to various places around the state for meetings.
Bert is preceded in death by his wife Stella, his son Dana, his parents William and Myrtle, and brothers Robert and Virgil.
He is survived by his sister Katherine Waters of Froid, daughter Lorna of Glasgow, son Lyle (Nora) of Miles City, and son Veril (Gail) of Billings, along with eight grandchildren Lyle (Annie), Brian, Tara, Melisa, Amy (Andrew), Dara (Tyler), Dustin and Ryan and four great-grandchildren Cody, Lily, Emily, and Nathan. Bert will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank Valley Health Care for the wonderful care that was given to Bert over last few years.
A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12 at Clayton-Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. Burial will follow with military honors in the Veteran’s section at Greenwood Cemetery, Wolf Point.
