Betty was born in 1957 to Meyer and Ruth Eagle Lewis of Cove, Oregon. While growing up, she enjoyed Home Economics and various 4-H Clubs, as well as being very involved in church activities. After graduation from Cove High School in 1975, she attended Prairie Bible Institute, then Northwest Nazarene College to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. She started her teaching career in Jerome, Idaho then went to Brazil to teach with Wycliffe Bible Translators for three years. She then returned to teach in Idaho at a Payette Elementary School. She married Raymond Rahn in 1995 and lived there on his farm. Betty was involved with AWANA and 4-H Club leadership, enjoyed sewing and quilting, as well as being involved with farm operation. She was an inspiration to many. Her gentle spirit and gift of encouragement frequently brought joy to those around her. She shared from her heart and quietly contributed to others in countless ways. She was a devoted mother and wife and enjoyed participating in the details of her families lives. Her friends appreciated her positive spirit and kind words when speaking of others, even calling her “Beloved Betty.”
She passed away at her sister’s home in Walla Walla, Washington from an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, and mother. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca, sister Linda and brothers Dave, Mark and their families and sisters-in-law Linda Siewing, Marlene Wilkey and their families and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are being held at Calvary Baptist Church, Cove at 3:00 PM, June 11, 2015 in a combined service with her father, Meyer Lewis, who passed away two days prior to her passing.
In Montana, services will be held for Betty at the Assembly of God Church in Wolf Point on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
