Calvin “Ike” Samuel Melbourne Sr., age 64, of Brockton, MT passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 in Billings, MT, surrounded by loving family due to natural causes.
Calvin was born to Thomas War Bonnet Melbourne and Bessie Joans Melbourne on July 30, 1945. He grew up and attended school in Brockton, MT. Ike worked for H.I.P. program in carpentry, A and S Industries, and he was a custodian for Brockton School. He also did seismography for a period of time and he was a farm hand.
He was a good pitcher in baseball and loved the game as he got older. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching basketball games on T.V., going to casinos, family gatherings, cruising around, and visiting with friends and family—teasing everyone that he knew. Ike also rededicated his life to the Lord.
Ike will be missed and is survived by his sisters, Rebecca Clark of Poplar, MT, Susan Cheek of Brockton, MT; an uncle, Joseph Jones of Oswego, MT; grandson, Derrick Fasthorse of Wolf Point, MT, who he raised; great grandchildren, Treyton and Kolby Fast Horse of Wolf Point, MT; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great- great grandchildren, that loved him very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Bessie Joans Melbourne; and a son, Calvin “Kelly” Melbourne Jr.; brothers, Samuel and Thomas Melbourne Jr.; sisters, Faye, Thelma, Martha, Wilma, and Peggy Melbourne; his long time companion, Joan Fast Horse; numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Ike was adored by each and everyone one of us. We will miss you.
A Vigil Service will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar, MT. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar, MT with Fr. Francis Schreiber as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Riverside Catholic Cemetery in Riverside, MT.
