Carl Martin Payne, age 66, passed away on June 27, 2017 at his home in Wolf Point, MT.
Carl was born on December 14, 1950 in Wolf Point to Layton and Joy Ryan Payne. He grew up at 3 Buttes north of Oswego and graduated from Frazer High School in 1968. He then went to work at the Scott Ranch, Westland Ranch, Flynn Ranch and then worked at the gun factory and then at the B.I.A. Road Department. After that, he started farming and ranching. He put up hay on the river bottom for his cattle. He loved to mechanic and could fix anything. He loved visiting friends and family. He enjoyed his grandkids, branding time and taking his neighbor, Bernard Long, for a ride. His house was always open to his kid’s friends when they were growing up. He had “Grandpa’s Daycare” where he took them to school and picked them up from school.
Carl met his wife, Margaret White Eagle, in the summer of 1977. They spent 40 years together and have 4 children. They lived in Oswego until they moved to the River bottom. He started his dream of farming and ranching in the 70s. He married the love of his life on February 18 th .
He is survived by his wife Margaret, his children Carla (Isaiah, Brianna, Hunter Walker), Carl and Joni (James, Kylee), Oliver and Ashley (Hayden, Rielly, Tatum, Stephanie), Ruth (Kaleb and Karson). Siblings, Susie and family, Cleo and family, Tom and family, Gloria and family, Faith and family. As well as his uncle Kenneth Ryan and his adopted children Rena Azure, Willy Fettig, and Andy Giles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother John, his nephew Ryan Payne and his son-in-law Marvin Gardipee.
