Carl Traeholt, passed away at the age of 87, on Friday, February 7, 2025, in Glasgow at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.
He was born on September 22, 1937, in Scobey to Einar & Margarethe (Ibsen) Traeholt. He was the 4th born of 6 children. They moved to Wolf Point when he was 4 years old. During High School, he worked at the bowling alley setting pins and also worked at all 3 theaters as a projectionist. In 1950 his dad bought the farm where he worked with his dad and brothers. After High School, Carl went to College at MSU in Bozeman. He later joined the Army and was stationed in Korea. After being Honorably Discharged he moved back to Wolf Point. During this time, he worked at the Appelgren Ranch. He still continued to work as a projectionist where he met the love of his life, Cheryll Nelson. She worked as a bookkeeper for the theaters. They got married April 8, 1962. They moved to the farm north of Wolf Point in the early 1960’s where he farmed. To this union 3 children were born, Sonja Friesen, Kyle Traeholt, and Wade Traeholt. He incorporated a hog operation with the farming and raised pigs for many years. During the winter months in the mid 1980’s he went to work w/ his brother Arne doing Taxes. In the 1990’s he partnered the farm with his son Wade, and they continued farming together until his passing. He was on various boards consisting of First Lutheran Church, Farmers Elevator and Farm Credit Services.
He is survived by his Wife-Cheryll of 63 years, Daughter, Sonja (Stan) Friesen, Sons, Kyle (Val) Traeholt, Wade (Jonisa) Traeholt, 14 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and another on the way, Brothers Jens (Jan) Traeholt, Don (Eileen) Traeholt, Brothers-in-law, Dwight Baker, Dennis (Karen) Nelson and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mom and dad, sister Ida, brother Arne and his wife Dorothy, Sister Mary, Mother and Father in-law Helen & Nieles Nelson, Brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Alda Olson, Nephews Mark Baker, Chris Traeholt and Alan Traeholt.
