Charles Maynard Crazy Bull

September 11, 1960 — June 26, 2010

Charles Maynard Crazy Bull, also known by many as Charlie Brown, age 49, of Poplar, MT, our father, grandpa, and uncle, went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2010.

He was born September 11, 1960, to Louise Iron Bear and Nelson Crowe. Mary Red Feather/ Iron Bear helped raise him when he lived in Poplar for most of his life. He enjoyed playing sports with family and friends. No matter where he was or what the situation might have been, he was always joking, trying to put a smile on somebody’s face. He liked to play keno machines on his spare time.

Charles is survived by his five children, Brandi (Chris) Dunphy, daughter of Aletha Chopper, of Fort Kipp, MT, Alex (Angelica) Crazy Bull of Poplar, MT, Charla (Josh) Crazy Bull of Williston, ND, Aric (Kelsey) Crazy Bull of Williston, ND, and Carly Crazy Bull of Williston, ND; five step-children, Candice (Terrance) Cooeyate of Poplar, MT, Rueben (Amber) Black Dog of Poplar, MT, and Troy Black Dog of Williston, ND, Thomas Juarez of Poplar, MT and Shalane Crazy Bull of Everette, WA; mother of his children, Wilma Longee of Poplar, MT; sisters, Sherry Dupree of Poplar, MT, and Juanita Merculiff of Williston, ND; half-sisters, Dolly Crowe of Poplar, MT, Connie Smith of Brockton, MT, and Dolores Crowe of Brockton, MT; aunt, Milda Gone of Poplar, MT; niece, Barbie Bo of Poplar, MT; 18 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and numerous close family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louise Iron Bear and Nelson Crowe; sisters, Carol Menz and Barbara Merculiff; and an adopted son, Jeremy Chopper.

Charles is loved and missed dearly by family and friends. Our sincere apologies to anyone who was not included.

A wake will be held 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar, MT. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar, MT. Interment will follow at the St. Ann’s Cemetery west of Poplar, MT.
