On October 20, 2016 in Billings, MT, the heavenly angels came and took our beloved mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, and great-grandmother Charlotte Ruth Good Soldier. Charlotte was born on May 2, 1956 in Poplar, MT to Coretta (Necklace) and Joseph Good Soldier Sr. Charlotte attended school in Brockton until her junior year. In her early years, she worked as a housekeeper in Devils Lake, ND but later stayed home to care for her four boys, Kalijah, Pierre, Cory, and Cliff and daughter, Samantha. She took pride in raising her three grandsons, Colton, Joe Beans, and Aaron. She made sure these three little boys had everything they wanted and needed. She is survived by her sons, Kalijah, Pierre Jr., Corey, and Cliff Youpee and daughter, Samantha Savior; grandchildren she raised, Colton Darnell, Joseph Youpee, and Aaron Savior Jackson all of Poplar;Special grand daughter Payton Chopperof Hinsdale, her sisters, Lorene Michel of Jamestown, ND, Ruth Necklace of Poplar, MT, Flora Hapa of Grenfell, SK, Canada, and Lois Medicine Cloud of Ethete, WY; brothers, Melvin Good Soldier Sr. and Clifford Jerome of Poplar; nephews, Abraham Chopper Jr., of Poplar, Joseph Dunn of Jamestown, ND, Louis Dunn of Ft. Totten, ND, Clifford Good Soldier Jr. of Ft. Totten, ND, Charles Good Soldier Jr. of Poplar, and Dean Necklace of Poplar steo brothersRoger Yankton, Quentin Yankton, and James YanktonJr. step sisters Celeste Herman, Clarice Lawrence, Valerie Yankton, Jackie Yankton and Andrea Iron Shield all of Spirit Lake North Dakota ; nieces Jolene and Wendy Chopper both of Poplar, Hattie Good Soldier of St. Michaels, ND, Annalissa Adams of Oberon, ND, Danielle Makes Good of SD, and Cody Good Soldier of Lame Deer, MT; grandchildren, Dale, Draylin, Andale Colton, Anthony, Joseph, Aaron, Anessa, and Tierney. Charlotte is preceded in death by her parents, Coretta and Joseph Sr.; brothers, Joseph Jr., Clifford Sr., and Charles Sr.; son, Joseph Dale Good Soldier step brothers Alex Yankton and Scott Yankton of Spirit lake North dakota and step sister paulette Lenoir of Sprirt Lake ND; nephews, John Good Soldier, Thomas John Necklace, and Melvin “Pat” Good Soldier Jr.; her companion of many years, Sam Savior and brother-in-law, Douglas Michel; grandson, Jerome “JP” Dunn; along with relatives too numerous to mention from both Ft. Peck and Spirit Lake. Charlotte had a heart of gold and will be missed by many people whose lives she has touched. Rest in peace…we’ll miss you and we love you!
A wake will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 26 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, October 27 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
