Christopher Buck Elk “Sunk Toke Ca Hota” (Grey Wolf), age 30, of Fort Yates, ND formerly of Fort Kipp, MT passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Selfridge, ND.
Chris was born July 5, 1980 in Poplar to Darryl Buck Elk and Arlene Follows The Road-Buck Elk. He grew up in Fort Kipp area until moving to Fort Yates in 1998. Chris graduated from the Fort Yates high school with the Class of 2000.
Chris enjoyed being around his family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his only son, Phoenix O’Riley Buck Elk, who he loved and cared about with all his heart. He enjoyed various sports and activities including watching movies and listening to various types of music. He was a very friendly person; he enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends.
He is survived by his son, Phoenix O’Riley Buck Elk of Bismarck, ND; sisters, Darice A. Buck Elk of Fort Yates, Sylvia N. (Myron Grey Bear Jr.) Buck Elk of Fort Totten, ND and Angel M. Buck Elk of Poplar; brother, Darryl K. Buck Elk Jr. of Poplar; nieces, Jalene F. Chase of New Town and Bailey J. Buck Elk of Fort Totten; nephews, Joseph H. Chase Jr., Jalen D. Chase, and Ricardo D. Chase all of New Town, Peyton T. Buck Elk and Jaden R. Iron Moccasin both of Fort Yates, and Landon D. Buck Elk of Fort Totten; grandmother, Nellie Silk of Wolf Point, MT; grandfathers, Clarence and Oscar Follows The Road both of Fort Yates; and many relatives that were too numerous to mention.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Darryl K. Buck Elk Sr. and Arlene J. Follows The Road-Buck Elk; brother, Emmanuel J. Buck Elk; nieces, Angel R. and Lakota L. Iron Moccasin; grandparents, Sylvia Yellow Eyes Follows The Road, Henry Buck Elk Sr., and Nancy Come Last Buck Elk; uncles, Allen Follows The Road, Thomas Necklace, Edgar Buck Elk, Ronnie Small, and Wilson Shields; and aunt, Lenore Dust.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, May 8, at the James BlackDog Activity Center in Fort Kipp, MT. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 9 also at the James BlackDog Activity Center in Fort Kipp. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery in Fort Kipp. A luncheon will follow interment at the James BlackDog Activity Center in Fort Kipp.
