Clarence “Chauncy” James Fast Horse Sr., age 52, of Poplar, MT passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Chauncy was born on August 14, 1968 at Poplar Hospital to Melinda Shields and Michael Fast Horse Sr. He met Jamie Red Thunder to this union their 5 children were born.
He worked at A&S Industries, seismograph worker, and security at bingo. He loved bingo, going for rides, watching his sons play basketball and spending time with his family and friends.
Clarence is survived by his children, Clarence “Sonny” (Cindy), TeAira, Kaine Sr. (Marlana), and Kassius Fast Horse; his grandchildren, Betty, KK, Cayden, Kalen, and Atticus “Bear”, Braxton, Kade, and Kaine Jr., Shantacie, Loralei, Angel, Shya Lynn, and Evelyn Michael; sisters, Michelene and Lucinda Fast Horse both of Wolf Point; brothers, Michael (Sandy) Fast Horse Jr. of Wolf Point and John Fast Horse of Poplar; uncles, Julian (Veronica) Shields Jr., Leonard Rattling Thunder Sr., and Sheldon Birthmark; aunts, Cheryl BearHill of Wolf Point, Katy Many Ribs of Seattle, WA and Sandra Birthmark; cousins, Catherine Koler of Seattle, Lenny Rattling Thunder, Terry Rattling Thunder, Francis Rattling Thunder, Harlin Rattling Thunder, Matthew Rattling Thunder, Richard (Jackie) Chase, Nathan Chase, Jimmy John Chase, and Johnnie Harrington; nieces and nephews, Latoya (Tazz) Clark, Cara Fast Horse, Erica (Alfred) Walking Eagle, Floyd (Blair) Runs Above Jr., Natasha Fast Horse, Alicia Fast Horse, Jayla Fast Horse, Autumn Dupree, Tina Weinberger, Misty Dupree, Sioux Dupree, Casey Fast Horse, Wade Fast Horse, Keisha (Jordan) Holum; and adopted brother, Stacy “Space Man” Crow of Wolf Point.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Melinda Shields and Michael Fast Horse Sr.; maternal grandparents, Britton Fast Horse and Helen Rattling Thunder; paternal grandparents, Julian Shields, Jr. and Esther Buck Elk; sisters, Cindy Greybull and Katerri Fast Horse; brothers, Gordon and Arnie Fast Horse; sons, Mathias “Whitey” Fast Horse and Anthony “AJ” Follette; nephews, Jarid Fast Horse, Jeremiah Medicine Elk, and Maynard “Tre” Longee III; niece Trisha Weinberger; cousins, Ronaleen Chute, and Vincent Many Ribs; aunt, Diane Martin; and stepmother, Barbara Fast Horse.

A prayer service will be held Friday, July 2 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, July 3 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Riverside Catholic Cemetery in Brockton.
