Clifford Melvin Stohl

Clifford Melvin Stohl, age 88, of Glasgow, MT, formerly of Wolf Point, MT, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2009 at Prairie Ridge Village in Glasgow of natural causes.

Cliff was born July 15, 1920 in Nashua, MT to Maggie and Fred Stohl of Nashua, MT.

He was in the Navy on a destroyer in WWII. He was on the ground at Nagasaki right after the A-Bomb, and experienced the devastation. Cliff married Luella Stepper on May 17, 1940, and they lived in Nashua. Cliff managed the Farmer’s Union Grocery Store and Luella managed the Vicks Café. He went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Company and moved to Wolf Point, MT. Cliff retired from US West in 1986. He spent many years wintering in Mesa AZ, and was currently living at Prairie Ridge Village in Glasgow. Luella passed away in 1976.

Mr. Stohl was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Charter Member of the American Legion Post 104, Nashua, MT; and an Elks Club Life Member.

Cliff is survived by three sisters, Norma Holden of Seattle, WA, Elaine (Al) Maas and Arlene (John) Egosque of Nashua, MT; son, Charles (Maureen) Stohl of Helena, MT, daughter, Linda (Ernest) Myhre of Flaxville, MT; 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Luella of 36 years.

He will be missed by all his family & friends.

A viewing will be held from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel, Wolf Point. The funeral service followed by a luncheon will begin at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25th at the First Lutheran Church, in Wolf Point before proceeding to Highland Cemetery in Glasgow for internment with full military honors. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stevensonandsons.com. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel, Wolf Point, MT has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
