Commilla Buckles

Commilla Jean “Cissy” Buckles, age 44, of Poplar, MT went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2011 at the Poplar Hospital.

Commilla, daughter of Raymond and Gloria Jean Buckles, was born March 20, 1966 in Poplar. She attended school at the Chemawa Indian School, Riverside Indian School, Poplar School, and the Clearfield Job Corps in Ogden, UT.

She attended the House of Prayer church in Poplar.

Commilla liked to play pool and enjoyed crocheting. She was a good daughter, friend, sister mother, and grandmother. She had a very loving heart and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She was especially close to her grandbabies, Kenyon, Kyler, Jayden, Kaylee, Beau, Kat and Jazlynn; they loved her more than anything.

She is survived by her mother, Gloria Buckles of Poplar; brothers, Frank Buckles of Wolf Point, MT, Raymond Buckles Jr. of Fort Totten, ND and Arlin Chapman of Poplar; sister, Karen Buckles of Minot, ND; beloved companion, Joseph Bergie Sr. of Poplar; sons, Joseph (Sheena) Bergie Jr. of Bismark, ND and Wyatt Bergie of Poplar; daughters, Chantell (Royce) Buckles of Glasgow, MT, Lacey Buckles, Delight Bergie both of Poplar, Cassidy Buckles of Scobey, MT and Shawna Buckles of Poplar; all of her precious grandkids, nieces, and nephews that she loved so dearly; special nephews and nieces, Brandon Buckles of Poplar, Crystal (Taylor) Comes Last of Poplar, Carlos Pedraza of Williston, ND, Quinten, Preston, and Precious and Montoya Pedraza all of Poplar, and Tana (Joe) Buckles of Minot, ND; and her close friends, Marie Yellow Owl and Karen Smoker. Extended family includes, the Iron Bears, Eagle Boys, Red Eagles, Hopkins and Sparviers all of Poplar, the Wakans of Spokane, WA, and the Kidders of Fort Yates. She always had a special place in her heart for everyone we couldn’t mention.

Commilla is preceded in death by her great grandmother, Mary Red Feather II; father, Raymond Buckles; brothers, Conrad and Roger Buckles; and sister, Francine Buckles and Kadence Bergie.

A wake will be held 7 p.m. until 12 midnight on Friday, February 18 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service for Commilla will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19 also at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery in Poplar.
