Darlene Nichols, age 79, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point.

Darlene was born in Jackson County, Minnesota on January 28, 1929 to Christian and Mary Kabele. There she grew up and attended West Loon Lake School. She received her Nursing License in 1970 from the Montana Board of Nursing. Darlene was a nurse for over 30 years working first at Trinity Hospital and then later at Faith Lutheran Home. She was a member of the Montana State Practical Nurses Association and served as director for several years.

On October 16, 1948 Darlene married Denver R. Nichols in Jackson, Minnesota and they were blessed with three children. She and Denver lived on their farm north of Frazer, Montana until 1955 when they moved into Wolf Point.

Darlene loved being with her family. She enjoyed gardening and loved cats and dogs. Her neighbors and coworkers were special to her.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Denver, her parents, and an infant brother, Leo.

Darlene is survived by two sons, Thomas (Anna) and Ronald, both of Wolf Point; a daughter, Gail (David) Untiedt of Spirit Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren, Emily (Timothy) Harris, Phillip Untiedt and Jay Untiedt, one great-grandchild, Sophia D. Harris, all of Twin Cities, Minnesota; and two brothers, Chris and Edwin Kabele, both of Spirit Lake, Iowa.

Her funeral service will be Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point with Fr. Steve Zabrocki officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wolf Point.
