Darlene Youpee

January 18, 1941 — November 21, 2018

Our beloved mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2018 after a long courageous battle with diabetes at NEMHS, Swing Bed Unit which was her home since 2013.

Darlene Faye Eagle – Youpee (age 77) was born on January 18, 1941 to Frank John Eagle Sr. and Mary (Two Bonnet) White Hawk – Eagle in Poplar Mt. She grew up in the Riverside Community and attended schools in Poplar. As a young girl she was baptized into the Catholic Church at Riverside and she was a strong believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed spending time with her twin sister (Min) and her mother. She also enjoyed helping in the community garden located in the Riverside Community. Darlene had one daughter before she met and married LeRoy Youpee at 19 years old in November 1960, then relocated to Richmond California and later to Oakland where she made her home for 13 years. They had 7 children while residing in California and 3 when they returned to Montana. They were married for 21 years and divorced in 1981. There after she met Mario “Romeo” Carrillo in the early 80’s and was with him nearly 16 years. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards, cruising the countryside listening to music, going on picnics, and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was a person who was loving and caring of everyone, even to those who did her wrong.

She is survived by her sister Nellie (Sally) Sood of Oakland California, special brother in law Lloyd Wallace Youpee of Poplar Montana, and her 11 children, Her daughters Angela Finley of Newtown ND, Mary H. Youpee, Pauline Youpee, Burma (Scott) Youpee, Corina (Thomas) TallWhiteman, and sons Alan Youpee, LeRoy (Lisa) Youpee Jr., Lloyd R. Youpee, Henry Youpee, James (Denise) Youpee, Bernard (Charlene) Youpee, and step children JoAnne Browning, Ilona Jo Matthews, , Willard Youpee, John F. Youpee, Meryl Youpee. Special caretaker Iola Scott, Special cousins Gloria Chopper, Louise Ell, numerous other cousins from North Dakota, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren too numerous to mention, extended families Eagle, Smith, White Hawk, Buckles, Longee, Ricker, Shields, and Youngman families.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her ex-husband and long long-time companion, brothers Frank Eagle Jr., Paul Grant, Alvin and Melvin Eagle (twins), and sisters Marie Eagle, Alvira Rose Eagle, Geraldine Eagle – Eder, Marlene Eagle (her twin sister), Pauline and Caroline Eagle, step children Dennis Ray Youpee, Larry Youpee, Colma Youpee, and Pierre Dale Youpee Sr., niece Maxine Grant, Grandsons Michael James Necklace and Leroy D. Youpee III.

Extended families include family in New Town, California, Texas, and Kentucky.
