Dawson Lyle Fire Moon, “Cheda Mani” came into this world as the third son of Lyle Fire Moon and Leta (Fourstar) Fire Moon March 11 th , 1959. Dawson would become known as “Doc” among his family members and friends at a young age. He attended many schools as a boy and in 1977 he graduated from Frazer High School, a young man ready to serve his country. Dawson joined the US Marine Corps and proudly represented his people for six years. After he was discharged Dawson attended college at the University of Oregon and there he acquired the skills he needed for his lifelong occupation as an electrician.
In 1986, Dawson met Paula Brien and together with her children, Lori, Jessica, and Ben, they became a family. Their family was blessed with one child Marly and she made his life complete.
Dawson provided for his family by working with various electrical companies and Tribal programs until he started his own electrical company, Doc’s Electric. As owner of Doc’s Electric, Dawson was always willing to do work for his family and the elderly asking nothing in return. Dawson’s generosity was from his heart and his desire to make life better for those in need.
“Cheda Mani” was the name given to Dawson and his spirituality became his way of life. He accepted the teachings from his uncles and others who were willing to prepare “ Cheda Mani “for his journey to the other side camp. This journey began when his spirit left his earthly body on May 8 th , 2014.
Dawson was reunited with loved ones that went before him. He will join his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Lucy Fire Moon, his maternal grandparents, Wallace Four Star and Evaline Archdale, his loving parents, Lyle and Leta, adopted father, Glen Anaquod, two older brothers, Vincent “Reed”, and Lyle, Jr., sister Melda, step daughters Lori and Jessica, a special uncle, Oliver Archdale, as well as many Fire Moon and Four Star relatives to meet him when he arrives.
Dawson is survived by his wife Paula, daughter Marly, son Ben, sisters, Ingrid (Bruce), Velda (Michael), Lyla (Bill), Joy (Chad), brother Thomas (Marva), uncles Robert (Judy) Four Star and Ken (Sylvia) Ryan, aunts Joan Blount and Julia Fararra, grandsons, Cian, Parker, and Leighton, and granddaughters, Leila, Raquel, and his beloved Zoey. Dawson held a special place for nieces Keena, Rika, and Luane, and thought of them as his daughters. He is also survived by his adopted Canadian family, the Anaquods.
Dawson had many relatives in the Fire Moon, Four Star, Archdale, and Brien families too numerous to mention. He also had many close friends in his life and in the past few years he spent a lot of time with Rob Blount, Chuck Spotted Bird, and Tommy Christian. Paula and Marly are grateful for the many friends that took the time to visit him in the last few months of his life.
