Dean “Charlie” Brown, 66, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Sunday, August 21 at the Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
Charlie was born on April 15, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Otto “Nibbs” and Dorothy (Heser) Brown. He attended school in Vida and Wolf Point. Charlie enlisted in the Army in 1966. On October 21, 1968, he married Linda Friskey in Wolf Point.
Charlie was a Vietnam Veteran having served from October 29, 1968 until October 28, 1969; he was awarded a Vietnam campaign medal and a Vietnam service medal with 4 bronze service stars. He also was stationed in Germany, and later in Fort Carson, Colorado when he received an honorable discharge on September 5, 1972.
He was employed as a Detention Officer at the Wolf Point jail and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and most of all being with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Brown of Wolf Point; sisters, Joyce (George) Andres of Cody, WY, Bonnie (Jim) Rust of Adair, OK, and Sharon (Fred) Sessions of Troy, AL; brother, Leonard “Ole” (Vicki) Brown of Chinook, MT; and several nieces and nephews, who he treated as his own children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otto “Nibbs” and Dorothy Brown; sisters, Jeannie Weeks, and Barbara Caselberry; and brother, Bruce “Buster” Brown.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 24 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A luncheon will follow the service at the Elks Club in Wolf Point. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
