Debra Johnson

December 21, 1947 — May 19, 2012

Our mom, Debbie Johnson, age 64, of Poplar, MT, has gone to be with the Lord and to join her family and friends who have journeyed before her. Her new journey began on the 19th day of May, 2012 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, MT.

Debbie was born on December 21, 1947 to Pete and Isabelle LeVay. She graduated from Poplar High School in 1966, and attended the University of Montana. Debbie owned her own business, worked for the State of Montana, served on the Fort Peck Tribes Oversight Commission and the Fort Peck Tribes Appellate Court as a Justice. She loved children, and enjoyed making crafts for her family and friends.

Christmas was a special time Debbie would bake all kinds of goodies and take them to different families while sharing a part of her holiday cheer with others.

Debbie is survived by two children, Charles S. Johnson (Kim and KC) of Poplar, MT and Jeri Johnson (Christian, Cadence) of Lawrence, KS; one brother, Don LeVay (Bonnie); niece, Traci Holt of Williston (Andy); nephew, Ira (Karla) Ricker of Wolf Point, MT; her soul mate, Gerald Johnson of Poplar; extended family members, a sister, Mavis Failing (Wayne) of Poplar; brother, Steve Grey Hawk Sr. of Poplar; son, Matthew Loves Him; daughters, Lydania Hagadone, Stacy Pipe, and Genelle Akers; uncle, Phillip Magnan (Olive) of California; and numerous relatives, kids, grandchildren, and close friends, of whom she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, Pete; mother, Isabelle “Sissy” LeVay; great grandson, Aaron Wayne Johnson; and brothers, John Arp, and Butch LeVay.

A vigil service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 22 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 23 also at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Cremation is to follow.
