Delbert Dale Brown, Jr., age 42, of Wolf Point, our beloved son, brother, grandson, left this world on Sunday, January 15, 2012. Delbert Dale Brown, Jr. was known to many as Crow Boy, he carried that name given to him by his grandpa, Leslie.
Delbert was born to Delbert Brown, Sr. and Florence (Fourstar) Brown on December 15, 1969 in Glasgow, MT.
Delbert also carried his traditional Assiniboine name Wigiya Mani (Walking Thunderbird) which was given to him by his grandpa, Dallas Fourstar.
During his youth Delbert grew up on the Crow reservation in Wyola, MT and also in Frazer and Wolf Point. He was a “child of the Big Lodge” and “Big Lodge kid” on his crow side.
Delbert worked at various jobs but his trade as a carpenter is what he had done best. He liked to dance and visit family and friends. Delbert cooked anything from nothing, but never wanted to be a chef.
Delbert is survived by his daughter, Tonisha Brown of Fort Yates, ND and adopted daughter, Kyra Brown of Wolf Point; brother, Marlon Brown of Wolf Point; grandson, Kenneth Brown of North Dakota; mother, Florence (Rodney) of Wolf Point; sisters, Carmelia Brown of Hardin, MT, Lana (Moby) Jackson, and Chante Japp both of Frazer; and special friend, Mary Ann Shields of Wolf Point; grandmother, Freda Fourstar of Frazer; and adopted brother, Todd Bauer. Delbert’s family is large and includes many relatives on the Crow and Fort Peck Reservations, the Littlelight, the Brown, the Cover-up, the Fourstar and Redstone families.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Delbert Brown, Sr.; grandparents, Leslie Fourstar, Sr., and James and Virginia Brown; and adopted dad, Clarence “Bonzie” Christian.
A four day feast will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 18 at the Community Hall in Frazer. Visitation will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 18 at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19 at the Community Hall in Frazer. Interment will follow at the St. Josephs Cemetery in Frazer.
