Delvin Vernon Four Bear

Delvin Vernon Four Bear, age 51, of Poplar, MT also known as “Big Daddy” left this world on Monday, December 12, 2011 at North Eastern Montana Health Service in Poplar.

Delvin was born on December 19, 1959 in Poplar, the son of Virgil Four Bear & Eleanora Comes Last McKay. He attended school at Kicking Horse Job Corps Center where he received his GED & Building Trades Certificate. In his early years, Delvin worked at A&S Tribal Industries and as a firefighter for the B.I.A. for many years. Delvin enjoyed playing pool and entering pool tournaments in his younger days.

He met his honey, Davetta Little White Man, 12 years ago. They resided in Billings, MT for a short time before moving back to Poplar.

He is preceded in death by his long time companion, Davetta; parents, Virgil Four Bear and Eleanora Comes Last McKay.

Delvin is survived by his brothers, Charlie Four Bear, Cornell Four Bear, Dale Four Bear, Cordell Four Bear, and Dana Comes Last all of Poplar; sisters, Rena Williams, Noreen Four Bear, both of Poplar, and Vernell Four Bear of Georgia; adopted sister, Gay Paulson of Billings; step father, Floyd McKay of Ft. Totten, ND; uncles, Daniel Comes Last Jr. of Wolf Point, and LeRoy Comes Last of Poplar; adopted uncles, Adrian Ireland of Williston, ND, and Cleveland Holy Elk Boy of Lame Deer, MT.

Delvin did not have any children, but he loved his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews dearly. Other survivors include the families of Perry, White Eagle, Black Dog, First, Chopper, Comes Last, and Buck Elk.

A wake will be held Friday, December 16 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar. His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, December 17 also at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Box Elder Cemetery in Poplar.

Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
