Denise Faith Longtree, age 43, of Poplar, MT passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at the NEMHS in Poplar.
She was born to Vina Mae Greybear Longtree and Roy J. Longtree in Poplar on February 12, 1970. She attended school at Poplar Public School, Fort Peck Community College, and the United Tribes Techinical College in Bismarck, ND. She returned home and started work as a Teacher’s aide for Poplar Schools, then later as a cook and bartender at the American Legion Club and a cook at Tribal Express.
Denise enjoyed playing pool, bingo, and machines and visiting family and friends. She made many friends throughout her life. They will remember her sense of humor, when she would make fun of herself, but wouldn’t get the punch line if told a simple joke. The family started calling her “Duh’nise” as she would finally get the joke a few days later.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Vina and Roy Longtree; infant daughter, Royal Lizotte; sister, Vonnie Brown; and brother, Ronnie Brown.
Denise is survived by her children, Kristen Crow, Deneya and Austin Longree and Darla Crow all of Poplar; 2 granddaughters, Kelcie and Kaylor both of Poplar; sister, Valerie (Duane) Black Dog of Poplar; brothers, Lance Brown of Poplar, and Delana Longtree of South Dakota; aunts, Ava Martin, Phyllis and Robert Olson, Judy (Dean) Greybear all of Poplar, Lorraine Greybear of Ft. Totten, ND, and Vivian Greybear of Galena, AK; grandmothers, Germaine Brady of New Town, ND, and Delilah Johnson of Connell, WA; and numerous deices, nephews, cousins, and relatives.
A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 19 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Riverside Presbyterian Cemetery in Riverside.
