Denise Zimmer

On Tuesday, November 17, 2020, Denise Zimmer, loving grandmother, mother, aunt, and wife passed away at the age of 51.  Denise Bernadette Wetsit Zimmer was born September 4, 1969 in Pierre, South Dakota to Elvira Mahto and George “Bootsie” Wetsit.  She grew up and went to school in Aberdeen, South Dakota and Wolf Point, Montana.

She worked for over 20 years as a CNA and as an Activities Director at the Poplar campus and in Wolf Point at the Faith Home, she enjoyed working with her residents in activities, usually finding her walking down the hallway smiling and greeting everyone she saw, sometimes brightening up everybody’s day.  After work friends could find her at the Wellness Center working out or leading a class.  Exercise was something that was very important to her and something that she was proud of.  She had lots of goals she liked to work towards.  Denise was also very protective of her family.  She enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews.  Denise enjoyed doing things with her kids and grandkids she joined White Wolf Song and Dance pack and became very active.  She was always going to birthday parties whether it be her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephew.  She loved her family and could be seen holding a baby and spending time with those she cared about.

She is survived by her husband Loren, her kids Kirsten Cantrell of Wolf Point, Jesse Wetsit of Jamestown, ND, Precious Wetsit of Wolf Point, Dalton Wetsit of Wolf Point, Rheanna of Sioux Falls, SD, Dillon Wrtsit of Wolf Point, Elizabeth Zimmer of Wolf Point, and baby boy Ezekiel Zimmer of Wolf Point; her special grandchildren, Azalei Ackerman, Lydell Ackerman, Phoenix Grandchamp, Dahlia Cantrell; her brothers Dennis (Nancy) of Winner, SD, Blaine (Sally) of Winner, SD, Jeff (Tamara) of Las Vegas, NV; her sisters, Georgia of Wolf Point, Sandra (Mike) of Wolf Point, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by son Elijah, her mother, Elvia Mahto, her father George “Bootsie” Wetsit, her grandparents, Earl and Nina (Redstone) Wetsit and Leslie and Alma (Wells) Mahto, her brothers, David and George “Buff” Wetsit, her sisters Laurette and Joan Wetsit, and her niece Sayra Mahto.
