Dolores Virginia Hoversland, age 85, of Wolf Point, MT died March 23, 2011 at the Daniels Memorial Nursing Home in Scobey, MT.
Dolores Virginia Jacobson was born in Wolf Point on February 10, 1926 to Melvin and Mabel Jacobson. She grew up on the family farm and loved spending time with her dad in the fields. She especially loved riding in the hopper of the combine while her dad harvested the wheat. She attended Wolf Point schools and graduated in 1944. She fell in love with Bill Hoversland, the neighbor boy, and they were married in April of 1946. They farmed north of Wolf Point and raised their 3 sons, Ken, Jim and Alan.
Dolores was very active in the farm community north of Wolf Point and in Wolf Point. She was active in 4-H as a leader, was a member of the Cow Belles, and was an election judge for Roosevelt County for many years. Dolores was also very active in the Elks Ladies, and loved to help at the RSVP and Senior Center. Dolores volunteered many hours at the local Senior Citizens Thrift Store and at the Wolf Point Schools helping in the library. Dolores also enjoyed playing cards. She loved all the different types of games but truly was there just to visit. She loved visiting with people and getting to know new people, and if she could play cards and visit all at the same time, it was a great day!
Another passion of Dolores was her children and grandchildren and all the sports that they participated in. She spent many hours watching them participate in all types of school activities, of course, loving every minute of it. She worked tirelessly for Youth Baseball helping organize and raise money for the program.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her son, Jim and her parents.
She is survived by her two sons, Ken (Francie) of Scobey, Alan (Mary Ellen) of Wolf Point; her sister Byrl Lund recently of Scobey; her six grandchildren, Benjamin of Boston, MA, Tanner of Lewistown, MT, Jay of Baker, MT, Jillian of Missoula, MT, Erica of Minot, ND and Alyssa of Wolf Point; her four great-grandchildren, Kai, Azure, McKenna and Keegan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
