Douglas “Dougie” Alan Freitas Sr., age 63, of Wolf Point, MT formerly of Honolulu, HI passed away November 4, 2009 in Wolf Point.
Dougie was born November 21, 1945 to Felix Clarence Freitas and Edith Kaipopiolani Perry in Honolulu. He graduated from Maryknoll School and also was in the JROTC Program.
Dougie enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and was in active duty during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Hawaiian Telephone Company as a cable splicer and supervisor. He later moved to Wolf Point.
Dougie enjoyed crossword puzzles, hunting, fishing, spending time with his friends, playing darts, shooting pool, modifying and building rifles, restoring and rebuilding hot rods and was active in Rimfirecentral.com as a forum member.
Dougie is preceded in death by his father Felix Clarence Freitas and mother Edith Kaipopiolani Perry.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Kathryn Freitas Ahin of Mt. View, HI; sons Douglas Alan Freitas Jr. and Jesse Curtis Kaipo Freitas Castillio, both of Honolulu; grandsons Keoni Aweau and Malulani Ahin, both of Mt. View; sisters Barbara Kaipo Freitas of Hilo, HI, Beverly (Reynold) Suenaga of Kapolei, HI and Diane (Colin) Lau of Kaneohe, HI; aunty Carole Lee of Honolulu; uncles Clyde “Butch” Freitas and Wilfred Freitas, both of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews; and his many friends he has made while living in Montana.
A Graveside Service will begin 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Veteran’s Circle, Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.stevensonandsons.com. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
