Douglas H. Houg

December 23, 1947 — March 21, 2025

Poplar

Born in Wolf Point, MT in 1947 to Herbert and Dina Houg, Doug grew up and graduated high school in Wolf Point where he and Jim Jensen could be found by the creek under the stars solving the world’s problems while enjoying a cold beverage. After high School he attended Montana State University Northern receiving his bachelor’s degree. He returned home to work on the family farm after college. His love for animals was very apparent. From the cows in the field, to the dogs and the multitude of cats that followed him much like the Pied Piper. After a long day of working the land, he could be found spending time in the barn feeding the many cats that roamed the farm. In the evenings, he could be found cheering on his favorite WWF wrestlers. Doug was a quiet man who enjoyed a good practical joke, even if he was on the other side of it. His blushed face and laugh will always be remembered by those around him. Doug was a simple man who enjoyed pizza and a good dessert. He loved John Deere Tractors and working on the farm. After retiring from Houg Farms he moved to Poplar, MT where he could be found doing chores while driving a John Deere, feeding the birds, and there was always at least one cat by his side everywhere he traveled. He is survived by his wife Royal; her children David Brockmeyer and Chris Brockmeyer; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Loren, Larry, Dale, and Bruce.
