Duran Lee Jackson, age 19, passed away Friday, July 22, 2016. Duran was born April 4, 1997 in Williston, North Dakota to Leslie Jackson. He graduated a year early in 2014 from Poplar High School.
In Duran’s short life, he enjoyed visiting with friends, fishing, sports especially the Denver Broncos. He was able to travel and live in different areas with his brother CJ.
On July 12, 2016 Duran was blessed with a baby boy named Alexander Mychael Hopkins Jackson. He was very happy and proud to become a father.
At the time of his death Duran was enlisted in the Montana National Guard as a 91E Allied Trade Specialist.
He was very smart and loved learning new things. He played all sports, baseball, golf, football and wrestling. In high school he had a good friendship with his coach Jason Frederick, the county Sheriff. He was a winner in all sports. Duran learned how to hunt and fish from his uncles Brad Gray Hawk, Justin and Jason Gray Hawk. He loved being all things in his Native culture. He was also taught to drum, sing and dance at an early age. He loved going to the Pow-Wows. He went to many ceremonies and traditional sweats.
Duran is preceded in death by Grandmother Alma Jean Jackson and Uncle Don Jackson.
Duran is survived by his mother Leslie Jackson (Mavis Draszt); adopted father Rusty Denny (Claudia); brother CJ (Jessie) Colon; sister Olivia (Chris) Headdress; sister Verlyn and brother Thomas Scott; niece Essence Headdress; adopted parents, Brad and Maureen Gray Hawk; and many Aunts, Uncles, cousins, Grandmothers and friends.
