On June 12, 2018 our little angel Dwain Merlin Spotted Bird Jr. “Maypiya Cigna”-“Little Cloud” was tragically and unexpectedly called home to his place in the sky. The loss of “Baby Dwain” has left our family broken. Not one day will pass that he won’t be missed.
He was born on June 20, 2014 to Dwain Merlin Spotted Bird Sr. and J’lanie Moran in Wolf Point, MT.
“Baby Pup” just finished his 1st year of HeadStart. He taught himself how to ride a bike and he tackled the monkey bars on his own. He had a smile that could light up any room he walked in. In his short time here on Earth, he touched many hearts in our community. He was a well- known little man here in Poplar. Anyone who had the honor of meeting our precious boy, understands and knows that his presence was a blessing.
“Baby Dwain” loved dinosaurs, his Matchbox cars, basketball, SpongeBob, Scooby Doo and John Cena. He also loved collecting rocks. He was blessed with a sense of humor like his Auntie Jonna. He loved letting his Grandma Junia smell his toes. He was a special and generous little man. Despite his age, he knew the value of family. “Baby Pup” loved animals. He had a cat “Baby Weasel” at his time of passing. He loved himself a bologna and cheese sandwich. He once yelled at his at Auntie Janis as she walked in to the store “DON’T FORGET THE CHEESE!!” Our little angle loved arguing his uncle Royce, as only he could. He was also a firm believer that his “Grandpa Tony” (Browning) bought and supplied the popsicles and soda for the kids on 11th Ave. NE.
Dwain survived by his parents Dwain Merlin Spotted Bird Sr. and J’Lanie Moran. Paternal grandparents Junia (Wayne) Walking Eagle-Jones & Royce (Jackie)Spotted Bird Sr.& maternal grandparents Shane Sr.& Ida Moran. Paternal Great-Grandparents Arthur (Merle) Grey Bull & Doris Spotted Bird. Maternal Great-Grandmother Crystal Bighorn, Sybil Erickson, Jackie & Alda Bighorn.
Aunts Janis Spotted Bird, Jackie (Cordell) Spotted Bird, Catherine Ida (Ben) Spotted Bird & Shani Moran all of Poplar. “Baby Dwain” also had a special aunt Larissa Spotted Bird. Uncles Royce J. Spotted Bird Jr., Rodney Jack Drum of Brockton, MT; Shane Moran, Lane Moran and Andrew Moran, Michael (Ronetta) McClammy, & Mark McClammy all of Poplar.

“Baby Dwain” had special aunts and uncles who had the honor of meeting him through his parents. Uncles Derek GreyBull, Rick Morales Jr., and Connor Gourneau.
“Baby Dwain” is preceded in death by his paternal great-parents Catherine and Leland Spotted Bird; Melvine White Bear; Viola & Gary Drum & Josephine Black Dog; Grandmother Kathleen Ricker; Aunts Jonna Spotted Bird, Sherry McClammy & Claytina Whiteman; cousins Jenna Spotted Bird, Johnie LaSarte, & Vanessa Two Bulls.

A wake will be held 7 p.m. Monday, June 18 at the Poplar Cultural Center. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at the Poplar Cultural Center. Interment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
