Elder Nelson passed away April 14, 2018 at his home in the Sheep Creek Community, twelve and one half miles south of Wolf Point, family was present.
He was born to Herman E. and Nettie (Hofland) Nelson on March 22, 1928. Elder grew up on a farm and ranch south west of Vida, MT. He attended Wolf Creek grade school, finishing his education on Circle High School.
He enlisted in the Army September of 1946. he spent time in Occupational Army of Japan. Elder was discharged in January of 1948 and returned home to farming.
In 1951 he married Delores Mair. They made their home in the Sheep Creek Community for 67 years.
Elder loved being a Norwegian and a Lutheran.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Nieles, Junior and Vernon and sisters Cella Cusker, Verla Thiel, Natha Ketchum and Eileen Ueland. Survivors include his wife Delores; his sons Coy (Mary) Nelson, Dane Nelson; daughters Julie Heck, Robyn Wolff (Tim Van Aken), Arlee Fox, Pepper (Grant) Zimmerman; brother Don (Rita) Nelson; sister Viona (Willard) Casterline; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
A graveside service with military honors will be Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, south of Vida at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Greg Holler-Dinsmore will be officiating. Lunch at the First Lutheran Church will follow interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point to the building fund.
