Elsie Bergen, age 89, of Wolf Point, MT went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Friday, May 8, 2009 at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point.
Elsie was born to August and Hulda Hoch on July 13, 1919 in Wolf Point. She attended elementary school at the rural Volt School and then attended high school in Wolf Point.
Elsie married Cornelius Bergen on October 20, 1943. Cornelius passed away in 1985.
Elsie and Cornelius spent three years in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Elsie was a charter member of the Community Bible Church. She played guitar, harmonica and a number of stringed instruments. Elsie enjoyed singing and she loved to write Christian poetry. She also enjoyed doing artwork, playing horseshoes and bowling.
Elsie was the Program Director and worked in food service at Faith Lutheran Home for thirteen years. She also was the desk clerk at VFW Bowling Lanes for a number of years.
Elsie is preceded in death by her mother and father, August and Hulda Hoch; stepmother, Ida Hoch; and siblings, Elias Hoch, Elvern Hoch, Ella Krahn and Emil Hoch.
Elsie is survived by her son, Wayne (Connie) Bergen of Wolf Point; daughter, Gail (Scott) Taylor of Wolf Point; son, Perry (Patti) Bergen, of Billings, MT; brothers, Ervin Hoch of Port Angeles, WA, Elmer Hoch of Missoula, MT, and Edward Hoch of Wolf Point; sisters, Esther Anderson of Wolf Point and Evelyn Knight of Rapid City, SD; and grandsons, Joshua Bergen of Missoula, Joel Bergen of Wolf Point and Jacob Bergen of Billings.
Prayer Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service is 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Gospel Fellowship Church with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Community Bible Church and Faith Lutheran Home.
