Elsie F. King, 85, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Poplar on April 13, 2017. Elsie was born January 15, 1932 to Reuben and Cora (Owns Pipe) Feather Earring in Poplar, MT. and was raised in Riverside Community.
Elsie graduated from Poplar High School in 1950. She went on to Haskell Indian College in Lawrence KS where she studied Business Administration. After college she began working in Brigham City, UT. There she met and married Alfred Leuppe. From this marriage her first daughter Lynn was born.
They divorced and she returned to Poplar in 1958. She later met Edwin L. Falcon in Poplar through her brother in law, Joe Bauer. During their years together they had nine children. They lived in various places including Fort Yates and Cannonball where she worked for the BIA, and Poplar where she worked for the Fort Peck Tribes and West Electronics. They separated but remained friends throughout the years.
She later met and married James F. King and they remained together until his passing in April 13, 1996.
She enjoyed spending time visiting her very large circle of friends and family, listening to country music and the Poplar and Brockton ball games on the radio, watching western movies and shows on tv, reading Louie L’Amour books, doing word find, crossword, and jigsaw puzzles and sometimes waiting for one of her nephews (Bauer twins) to bring the last puzzle piece back.
