Eunice Adeline Ault

January 10, 1920 — September 24, 2010

Eunice Adeline Ault, age 90, of Wolf Point, MT, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away September 24, 2010 of natural causes at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point. Surrounded by her family, Eunice peacefully went home to be with her loving Savior, Jesus Christ, where she was happily reunited with her beloved husband Burl.

She was born January 10, 1920 in Rothsay, Minnesota to Carl and Gunhilde Kjono. She grew up and attended school in Elizabeth, Minnesota. Times were hard, but Eunice had fond memories of life spent with her sisters and brother growing up on the family farm.

As a young woman, Eunice moved to Wolf Point to join her sister Molly and family. Eunice was employed at the Huxol Drug store.

Eunice was proud to have served her country in the Women’s Army Corp. during World War II, attaining the rank of Mess Sergeant. She was proud to be a veteran and a patriot.

After the war, she returned to Wolf Point, and in 1947, at a New Year’s Eve dance, she met a handsome young grocer named Burl and they were married on June 20, 1948. Burl and Eunice enjoyed 59 years together as loving husband and wife.

Eunice was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point. She was a member of Peace Circle of the ELCW and she served as a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and church wedding hostess for many years, as well as District President of WELCA.

She was a member of the Riverside Chapter of Eastern Star, and served on the Faith Home Foundation Board for several years. Eunice and Burl were honored to be selected in 1993 as the Wolf Point Senior Citizens of the Year.

Eunice delighted in being a grandmother, and great grandmother, as she loved “building memories” with “the greats” and “the grand’s”. Burl and Eunice faithfully attended their grandchildren’s school and athletic activities and birthday celebrations. They were enthusiastic supporters of Wolf Point sports.

Eunice loved to entertain family and friends, and was known for her traditional Norwegian baked goods. She enjoyed doing embroidery, sewing, flower gardening, and winning at card games.

Eunice had been a resident at Faith Lutheran Home for the past four years. The loving care she received there from the exceptional staff was a blessing to both Eunice and her family. We will be forever grateful for the compassion shown to her.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Kjono; and her four sisters, Mollie Marquardt, Hazel Haldorson, Bernice Robertson, and Gertrude Mahlum. Eunice was also preceded in death by her best friend and soul mate, Burl in 2007.

Eunice is survived by her children, Patricia (Calvin) Spangler of Coeur d’ Alene, ID, Thomas (Wanda) Ault of Wolf Point, and Karen (Sid) Egbert of Turner, MT; six grandchildren, Troy (Trudi) Ault of Waconia, MN, Trevor (Paidge) Ault of Portland, OR, Sara (Tim) Carroll of Coeur d’Alene, Brant (Sara Jo) Spangler of Coeur d’Alene, Dallas (Amy) Egbert of Streamwood, IL, and Karlene Egbert (fiancé Jonathon Heinz) of Grand Forks, ND; eight great-grandchildren, Brittany and Brianna Ault of Waconia, Bryant and Katelynn Spangler, and Kelsey and Molly Carroll of Coeur d’Alene, Preston Egbert of Streamwood, and Parker Ault of Portland; Eunice also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who she was very fond of.

Rest in Peace Mom. You will forever be in our hearts.
