Forrest Eder

Forrest (Chanuba) Edwin Eder 57, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.

Chanuba was born on June 24, 1955 to Lillian Bruguier and the late William Eder, Sr. in Wolf Point, MT. As a child he attended school in Wolf Point at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church until the 6 th grade, then in Poplar.  During his teenage years he attended The Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. After his school years in 1971, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he learned the carpentry trade from his late father. He moved home to Wolf Point in 1977.

He met & married Lois Pederson and to this union three children were born; Jessica, Stephen & Channing Eder. They later divorced. He married Clara Ricker in 1998 in Poplar, MT and they made their home in Allentown, PA where they lived for four years. They also later divorced.

On October 5, 2008 he married his wife Angela Shinn (Kirn) & they made their home east of Wolf Point.

Chanuba was an avid carpenter & he built many houses over the years. He also worked at the Fort Peck Minerals Department as a Draftsman for many years.

Forrest’s interests included working on and fixing up old cars, he could build a motor from the ground up. He was also an exceptional artist. He enjoyed drawing and he painted many captivating oil paintings.  He enjoyed listening to music, visiting with family & friends while having a smoke. He was given the name Chanuba by his grandmother Elsie. He had a very close relationship with his mother. She was his rock, his confidant, her shoulder to lean on.

Forrest is survived by his wife Angela Eder of Wolf Point; mother, Lillian Christian of Wolf Point; children Jessica, Stephen & Channing Eder and Austin Pederson of Wolf Point; brothers William (Rebecca) Eder Jr., Eric Bruguier & Neil Taylor, all of Wolf Point, Father Jullian Nix of Bismark ND; sisters, Mildred Rose Eder of Salt Lake City UT, Angie Iron Cloud of Gillette WY; grandchildren Christopher, Jade, Madison, Xavier & Haleena; aunt, Emily Azure; uncle, Forrest (Nancy) Bruguier all of Wolf Point; along with other numerous relatives & countless friends who were blessed to know him.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Eder Sr.; maternal grandmother, Elsie Herron; maternal grandfather, Leo Bruguier; maternal great grandfather, Isaac Miller; paternal grandmother, Mildred Eder; paternal grandfather William M. Eder; aunt, Joyce Smail; Uncle, Edward Eder and a brother Desmond Eder.

A traditional Assiniboine four day feast will be held 1p.m. Wednesday, Oct 24 at the Wolf Point Community Hall. Cremation has taken place and a vigil will be held 7 p.m. Friday, October 26 at the Clayton Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, October 27 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point. Inurnment will follow at the Poplar City Cemetery.

Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
