Fred Pete Cummins

Fredrick Pete Cummins, age 84 of Poplar, MT passed away due to natural causes on Wednesday June 25, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. in the Veterans Assisted Living Unit in Miles City, MT.

He was born on January 7, 1924 in Wyola, MT, the son of Richard and Delia Cummins. He grew up on the Crow Reservation. He attended a country school in the Grey Blanket Community. He was enlisted in the US Army from 1942-1946 and was served in the European Theatre. While in the Army he enjoyed Paratrooping and Boxing. He married Bernice Eagle Bear on July 9, 1952 in Lodge Grass, MT. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, lending a helping hand whenever needed, spending time with his family, witnessing and winning souls for the Lord. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Fredrick was preceded in death by his wife Bernice J. Cummins; two sons Rocky and Phillip Cummins; his parents Richard and Delia Cummins; his twin brother Richard; his brother John; and his sisters Lucy, Agnes, Alvina, Mary, Frances, Edna and Catherine.

Survivors include his son Jay (Joanne) Cummins of Poplar; a Granddaughter Aleena (Dustin) Morgan of Thedford, NE; two Grandsons Evan (Crystal) Cummins of Lodge Grass, MT and Jacob Cummins of Poplar; two Great-Grandsons Jayce and Caysen Morgan of Thedford; two Great-Granddaughters Sydney and Taylor Cummins of Lodge Grass; his brothers Mervin and Ronnie Eastman, Buster Harold Brien and John B Cummins of Lodge Grass; his sisters Anna Bearcloud and Arleta Young of Lodge Grass, Jean St.Germaine of Hardin, MT, Frances LaRance , Dorothea Aragon-Huff of Wyola, MT and Judy Houle; two sister- in-laws, Violet Parriette of Wolf Point and Sylvia RisingSun of Newton, ND; brother-in-law, David Little White Man; his adopted brothers, Tommy Carpenter, and Harry Wallace both of Lodge Grass, Russell Wallace; his adopted sisters, Bonnie Cummins, and Josie and Frances Wallace; his nephews, William Cummins, Richard, Jr. of Lodge Grass, Anson Cummins, Barney, Leroy and George Cummins of Lodge Grass, Harold, Mike and Sonny Hill,and Arnold and Delmar Aragon, Mike Birdinground, William Backbone , Jimmy Takes The Horse of Lodge Grass, Samuel TakesTheHorse, and Chance Houle; four special nieces, Lola (Johnny) Castro of Lodge Grass; Bernadine (Gordon) RealBird, Bernadette (Mike) Dimas of Poplar and LaVerda EagleBear; two special cousins, June (Maynard) Hawk and Larry Hamilton both of Poplar; his extended family include the Cummins, LaRance Backbone, Birdinground , Hill, Brien, Eastman, Houle, Takes The Horse, Dimas, Prentice and RisingSun families, mostly of the Montana area.

Visitation will be Monday, June 30, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Poplar Assembly of God Church. A Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Poplar Assembly of God Church with interment immediately following at Chelsea Cemetery in Poplar.
