Gary Raymond Red Eagle, Jr., age 46, of Poplar, MT passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Poplar Community Hospital.
Gary was born March 31, 1965 at Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City, FL to Gary Red Eagle Sr. and Georgia (Wakan) Red Eagle. Gary carries the Indian name Soldiers Boy. He attended school in Poplar. He was employed with A&S Industries, and worked in seismography. Gary enjoyed watching movies and listening to all kinds of music, including powwow music. If he wasn’t watching a movie he was always playing dice, he also loved to play pool. When he was a young boy, he became a powwow singer. He had a drum group called the Fort Kipp Juniors. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Georgia Ann Red Eagle of Poplar; sons, Gary Red Eagle III and Jesse Red Eagle both of Poplar; daughters, Faith Red Eagle of Poplar and Mariah Red Eagle of Pablo, MT; three brothers, George Red Eagle, Gerred (Jen) Red Eagle, and Harold Red Eagle, Jr. all of Poplar; sisters, Georell (Terry) Red Eagle and Genine Red Eagle both of Poplar; adopted sisters, Maureen (Rick) Dionne, Amanda (Marvin) Bull Chief both of Poplar; adopted brothers, Pat McClammy and Alvin Spotted Elk both of Poplar and Webbie Runs Above of Ashland, MT; aunties, Reba Ogle, Betty Black Dog, Doreen Red Eagle, Pauline Boxer, Joenne Browning, all of Poplar, Ilona Jo Matthews of Australia, and Gloria Garcia of San Jose, CA; uncles, Pierre Dale Youpee, Johnny Youpee both of Poplar, Terry Youpee of Browning, MT, Colma Youpee of California, and Merle Youpee of Portland, OR; grandpa, Mike Youngman, Sr. of Poplar; grandmas, Rita Long Chase, Florence “Wospi” Youngman, Myrna Charbonneau, and Lorraine Stormy all of Poplar; nieces, Dorell and Donelle Black Thunder, Ann St. Germaine, Gerrae Red Eagle, and Mandy Red Eagle all of Poplar; nephews, Jeremy St. Germaine, Travis Black Thunder, and Harold Red Eagle, III all of Poplar; grandchildren, Gerra Red Eagle, Geoffrey and Adam Black Dog; special aunts, Linda Parslo of Spokane, WA, and Delilah Alfrey of Tapwai, ID; and many cousins too numerous to mention.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Red Eagle, Sr.; brother, Geoffry Red Eagle; grandson, Cameron Black Dog; uncles, Charles Wakan, Sturling Red Eagle, Sr., Delmar Red Eagle, Sr., Glenford “Tex” Red Eagle; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Mary Red Eagle; and maternal grandparents, Josephine Youngman and Jesse Wakan.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Monday, April 2 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3 also at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery in Fort Kipp, MT.
