Genevieve Dena Bauer, 88, a long time Wolf Point resident, passed away Monday May 11, 2009 at the Faith Lutheran Home where she was a resident for 11 days.
The oldest of four children, she was born March 12, 1921 in Kenmare ND, to Nicholas Thelen and Anna Opitz Thelen. Gen attended Agnes catholic school for six years in Kenmare then two years at a country school two miles from home and went on to graduate from Kenmare high school in 1939.
On April 08, 1940 she married Andrew Bauer at St. Agnes Church in Kenmare. They had five boys, Patrick (Sandy) of Spanaway, Washington, Edward (Nancy) of Wolf Point, Montana, James (Darlene) of Williston, North Dakota, LeRoy (Pete) of Jordan, New York, Robert (Amy) of Cut Bank, Montana.
She was a member of the RSVP, American Legion Auxillary Post 22, Degree of Honor, a Charter member of the St. Frances group of the Alter Society, belonged to the Catholic Daughters, the Parish council of Catholic Women, and was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She often reminisced about the many bags of onions cut for the Catholic Hamburger Stand. Gen also enjoyed crocheting afghans for her children and grand children. She enjoyed the company of her five boys, her 10 grandchildren, Geni Schneider, Dagny Scofield, April, Steven, David, Christine, Michael, Scott, Trisha, and Brianna Bauer, and her four great grandchildren.
Gen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andrew Bauer, her brother LeRoy Thelen, and her niece.
She is survived by her brother Vernon Thelen and sister Bernice Johnson, both of Kenmare, along with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and numerous nephews.
Cremation has taken place and the Funeral Services will be held Monday May 18, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 a.m.
