Gerald Good Bird “Strange Wolf” or “Different Wolf”, age 83, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2017 at NEMHS Poplar Hospital.
Gerald was born to Benjamin Good Bird and Helen Black Hawk on July 5, 1933 in Elbowwood, ND.
In his younger years he played basketball and later he worked as a farm hand and in construction. Some of his hobbies included fishing, sports, visiting with friends and family and riding horses. Gerald was an Army veteran and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during his service. Gerald was also a bronc rider.
He met and married Marvelle Smith and from that union were born Benji III, Willie, Bonnie and Renae. They later divorced and later she passed on. He later came to Poplar and met Eleanor Muskrat, from that union they had Bernard Good Bird, Gordon Dean Good Bird and Malcolm Good Bird. He later met Brenda BigLeggins and have been together for 20 years and married in 2016 in Wolf Point, MT.
Gerald is preceded in death by his father Benjamin Good Bird and mother Helen Black Hawk; brother Emery Good Bird, Sr.; sons Bruce and Gordon Good Bird; step-son Dustin Scott; sister Betty Ann Red Eagle, Velma Louise Good Bird.
Gerald is survived by his wife Brenda Good Bird; he raised his step children Matthew Scott, Jr., Sue Ann BigLeggins, Mattie and Andrea Scott and raised his grandchildren Brianna Scott, Nayteilia BigLeggins, Braden BigLeggins and Crystal BigLeggins; also his sons Bernard Good Bird, Malcolm Good Bird; brothers Arnie of Poplar, MT and Leonard Good Bird of Rapid City, SD and sisters Doris (Leland) Spotted Bird, Ina Mae Driver and Darlene Finley.
