Gilbert J. Bruhn, Sr., age 83, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Friday, June 10, 2011 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
Gilbert was born October 24, 1927, in Blaisdell, ND to Harry Bruhn and Rose (Rock) Bruhn.
He served in the Armed Services from January, 1946 until April, 1947.
Gilbert married Mary E. St. Pierre on June 14, 1949 in Dunseith, ND. This union was blessed with four children; Mary Ann Shipstead of Wolf Point, Gilbert J. (Carol) Bruhn, Jr. of Glasgow, MT, Deborah (Jackson) White of Billings, MT, and Patty (Joe) Hatvick of Mesa, AZ.
During his 61 years in the Wolf Point community, Gilbert was a volunteer fireman, First Aid Instructor, and Ambulance Driver. He was employed at Hovey-Stone Chevrolet, Moe Chevrolet of Poplar, Siljenberg Implement, and with the City of Wolf Point. Gilbert was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Wolf Point.
He loved to hunt, camp, and fish. For many years the cabin at Fort Peck was the family gathering place for holidays and celebrations.
Gilbert is survived by his wife, four children, sister Florence (Chester) Johnson, and brother Lawrence (Darlene) Bruhn, both of Palermo, ND, 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ethel Stave, and brothers, Roy, Earl, and Julius.
A Vigil Service will be held Wednesday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wolf Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Jolly Pathiyamoola as celebrant. Graveside services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Cremation and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
