Gladys Loretta Lewis

Gladys Loretta Jones Lewis, age 78, of Brockton, MT passed away January 18, 2009.

Gladys was born at Riverside, MT on July 1, 1930, the eleventh of thirteen children, to William and Phoebe (Fast Horse) Jones. She married Frederick Lewis on April 22, 1960 in Wolf Point, MT. Frederick preceded her in death in 1989.

Gladys was very strong in her Catholic faith. She was involved in Cursillo.

In 1975 the old St. Thomas Catholic Church in Brockton was renovated and the basement restored. Gladys helped to raise monies for the organ and restoration.
She enjoyed quilting and playing bingo.

Gladys raised two of her grandchildren, Loretta and Marques Brown.

Gladys is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Lewis; a son, Theodore Crowe; siblings, Bessie Jones Melbourne, Stephan Jones, Earl Jones, Lucy Jones Spotted Bird, Agnes Jones White Hawk, Frank Jones, Ralph Jones, Alves Jones Bird, Jessie Jones Walking Eagle, Samson Jones and Virginia Jones.

She is survived by her children: Lois Longtree, Stanley Crowe, Curtis (Patty) Lewis, David Lewis, Pauline Lewis, all of Brockton; brother, Joseph Jones of Wolf Point; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; adopted sons, Michael (Tia) Garrison of Brockton and Ronnie Grainger of Poplar; adopted daughters, Rosa (Kermit) Boyd, Bernadette Wind and Ethelene White Hawk, all of Brockton; special nieces, Juanita (Doug) Youngman and Naomi Young, both of Poplar, Roberta Bird of Brockton and Martha (Lawrence) Black Dog of Fort Kipp, MT.

A Vigil, tentatively, will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2009 at our Lady of Lourdes, Poplar, MT. Mass of Christian Burial, tentatively, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Interment will follow at Riverside Catholic Cemetery.
