I, Gloria Diserly, was born at home in Riverside to George and Julia (Ireland) Fast Horse on July 31, 1945. I was raised in the Riverside and Brockton area, moving to Poplar in 1972, where I lived the rest of my life.
I attended grade school & high school in Brockton also attending college at Missoula, Billings Business College, and was one of the first six graduates from Fort Peck Community College in 1982 in Business Science. I worked for the Fort Peck Gun Factory, Fort Peck Housing, Fort Peck Headstart, A&S Industries, and Fort Peck Community Service Program (TEP) for 17 years. I resigned from work to go back to college to further my education at FPCC and graduating again with two college certificates in Computer Technology and Bookkeeping/Accounting. I even tutored college algebra while attending FPCC.
I start back to work with DataCom Science assisting the Probate Department at Poplar BIA, and in November 2001, I was employed with the BIA (Probate Dept.) for 15 years before retiring. I enjoyed my work and will all my coworkers at the BIA. I also worked at the Tribal Elders Program for 19 years before retiring. Within the last couple of weeks, I recently resigned from the Fort Peck Tribes Enrollment Board where I served for 2 years.
On July 3, 1963, I married Melvin Birthmark and to this union we had 4 children: Marvin, Kevin, Melvine, and Randal. Melvin died in 1971. On September 8, 1972 I married Arlie Diserly and to this union we had 3 children: Diana (Rodney) Tuttle, Dina & Frank Diserly. I raised 3 grandchildren, whom I took as my very own: Amanda Fast Horse, Rita and Daniel Diserly. Daniel is legally my son.
Gloria had many God-children whom she thought of during holidays. Two God sons she treasured were her great-grandsons Bryce Lee Fox and Victor Fox Boyd.
Grandchildren: George, Jonas, Isiah, Marvin Jr., Sioux, Tyrae, Amanda, Jessica, Katherine, Richard, Carlos, Diana, Kayla, Malcolm, Kevin, Maurice, John Paul & Christian, Randal Jr., Julia, Melvin, Gloria, Rita, Chelsey & Misty, Marian, Rachel, Erin, Passion & Jacee, Alex & Rose, Ervin, Michael & Tyreik, and my pride and joy, Nicholas John Diserly (great-grandson). Gloria was very proud of all of her 35 grandchildren, plus all of her extended grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include, her husband, Arlie Diserly of 46 years, sons Marvin (Lynette) Fast Horse, Randal (Teema) Birthmark, Frank (Lisa) Diserly & Daniel Diserly. Daughters Diana (Rodney) Tuttle & Dina Diserly.
