Harold L. Red Eagle Jr., age 32, of Poplar MT passed away Thursday, Jan 3, 2013 in Poplar of unknown causes.
Harold was born on October 31, 1980 in Williston ND to Harold L. Red Eagle Sr. & Theresa Four Bear but was raised by Gary Red Eagle Sr. & Georgia Red Eagle since he was four days old. He also spent a few years living with his Aunt Maureen Dionne and also with Geish and Kathleen Lambert of Brockton. He carries the Indian name “Ohitika Duwan – Strong Singer”, he was an enrolled Fort Peck Sioux and part Hidatsa. He attended school in Poplar MT.
Harold enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing bingo and keno machines. Harold loved to joke with family and friends, his laughter and humor will be greatly missed. He was always willing to help his family.
Harold started singing at the age of 5, he sang with his brothers, 1st as the Fort Kipp Jr’s., who are now known as the Champion drum group Fort Peck Sioux. He loved singing at powwows, or whenever he was called upon, he sang for family birthdays and honoring.
Harold is survived by his mother, Theresa Four Bear of Brockton, MT and his mom, Georgia Red Eagle of Poplar, MT; son, Harold Red Eagle III of Poplar, MT; daughter, Mandy Red Eagle of Fort Kipp, MT; sisters, Kimberly Ann and Natalie Red Eagle of Brockton, Georell and Genine Red Eagle of Poplar, MT; brothers, George and Gerred (Jen) Red Eagle of Poplar, MT; aunts Maureen (Rick) Dionne of Poplar, Irene Evenson of Brockton, MT; uncles Myron Four Bear of Brockton, MT and Dennis Four Bear of Wolf Point, MT; grandmother, Pearl Four Bear of Brockton, MT; other grandmothers, Reba Ogle, Doreen Red Eagle & Pauline Boxer all of Poplar, MT, Gloria (Robert) Garcia of San Jose, CA, Doris (Leland) Spotted Bird of Brockton, MT, Darlene Finley of Newtown, ND, InaMae (Francis) Driver of Mandaree, ND, Marvina Bishop of Williston, ND, Marietta Four Bear of Brockton, MT, Arlene Standing & Rita Talks Different of Frazer, MT, Joanne Browning and Ilona Jo Matthews of Poplar, MT; grandfathers, Gerald “Herman” Good Bird of Newtown, ND, Arnold Good Bird of Poplar, MT, Leonard Good Bird of Linton, ND, Harold D. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold L Red Eagle, Sr. and his dad, Gary “Buzzy” Red Eagle; son, Philip Red Eagle; daughter, Kelly Red Eagle; brothers, Issac Four Bear, Phillip Four Bear, Gary Red Eagle & Geoff Red Eagle; sister, Mandy Red Eagle; uncles, Emery Red Eagle, Sr. Delmar Red Eagle Jr., Darryl Red Eagle, Dennis Red Eagle, Keven Four Bear; aunt, Kathleen Lambert; paternal grandparents, Delmar Red Eagle & Betty (Good Bird) Black Dog; and maternal grandfather, Ervin Four Bear.
A wake will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 9 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10 at the Cultural Center in Poplar. Interment will follow at the Fort Kipp Cemetery in Fort Kipp.
