Henry Friesen

Henry F. “Hank” Friesen, age 93, of Wolf Point, MT died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care in Glendive, MT.

Hank was born September 2, 1917 at the farm house near Lustre, MT. His parents were Jacob J. Friesen and Elizabeth (Fredrau) Friesen.

He attended Wolf Creek grade school and high school in Glasgow, graduated from Frazer High School and enrolled in Northern College in Havre for two quarters. He left school to help his dad.

Hank and Rose Unger were married on September 3, 1945 in Wolf Point. They worked on their farm home north of Oswego.

In September 11, 2000 they retired and moved to 424 Indian St. in Wolf Point.

Hank is survived by his wife, Rose of Wolf Point; children, Betsy Adams and Glenn Friesen of Tucson, AZ, Jackie (Jerry) Handran of Glendive, Denise (Tommy) Green of Belgrade, MT, Carol (Mel) Grigg of Kalispell, MT, Stanley (Sonja) Friesen of North Wolf Point; one sister, Marie Davis of Auburn , WA; three sisters-in-law, Ida (John) Freisen and Elizabeth (Pete) Friesen of Glasgow and Harriet (Julius “Blackie”) Friesen of Wolf Point. He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jake, Abe, Pete, John, Ben, and Julius “Blackie”; sisters, Elizabeth Friesen, Sally Kuecks, Katherine Hawkins, and Eva Eggebrecht.

For many years, Hank worked part time at the Livestock Sales Ring in Glasgow. He enjoyed rodeos, attending school and athletic events of his children and grandchildren. One of his special gifts was the visits and staying in touch with his extended family and friends.

In retirement, he enjoyed researching family history and his recent projects were restoring several saddles, bridles, etc. and attending a weekly bible class at 1st Lutheran Church in Wolf Point.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 26 at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point with Pastor Greg Holler-Dinsmore officiating.
