Huber Wright

June 15, 1954 — October 14, 2022

Huber Lee Wright, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother was born on June 15 th , 1954 to James Huber Wright and Lena Grace McConnell. He grew up in Frazer, Montana and attended Frazer High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Debra Bauer. They both graduated in the spring of 1972 and were married the following year on October 6, 1973. A year later they welcomed their daughter Christine Nickole in July of 1974. In December of 1974, Huber enlisted in the United States Army, serving 3 years before being honorably discharged in August of 1980.  A year later, Huber and Debbie welcomed their daughter, Sondra Lee in June of 1978. Huber worked as a tribal police officer for a brief time and worked for Kenco Refinery for a number of years. For the last 38 years, Huber was employed at the BIA Irrigation Office here in Wolf Point.

In September of 1994, his only grandchild Lena was born. He enjoyed watching her play basketball and was her biggest fan. Huber and his granddaughter Lena were always down to go watch all the local basketball teams and tournaments, and enjoyed cheering on his special granddaughters, Alyssa and Alexis Murdock.

Huber was a traditional dancer and in the summertime, he and his family would travel the powwow trail. He also sang with his drum group, the Ash Point Singers. After moving his family to Oswego, Montana in 1986, Huber and his brother in law Joseph Bauer, tried their hand in the cattle business for a number of years. Huber and his wife Debbie enjoyed going to the casino together, playing Yahtzee, watching game shows, going on late night cruises, and working in their yard, forever changing it up. Huber was obsessed with making sure the weeds never got out of hand and making sure the grass never grew passed an inch. Huber was a HUGE Minnesota Vikings fan and had a chest full of Vikings memorabilia to prove it. He was devoted to watching every Vikings game and always cheered them on no matter the outcome.

Huber is proceeded in death by his parents, James and Lena Wright, his wife of 48 years Debra Wright, his daughter Sondra Wright-Keller, his adopted brothers Dougal, Kurt, and Albert Murdock Jr., his Aunties Ruth Todd, Florence Buck, Rosella Murdock, Myrtice Redstone, his Uncles Dick McConnell, Joe McConnell, James McConnell, cousins Mitchell Todd, Rochelle “Skee” Redstone, Norman Redstone, Angie Redstone, Tracey Redstone, and Dave Redstone.

Huber is survived by his daughter, Christine (David) of Oswego, Montana, his granddaughter Lena (Dalton) of Billings, Montana, his adopted sisters Deb Murdock of Frazer, Montana, Barb (Frank) Dumont of Frazer, Montana, nephew Jason (Lisa) Murdock of Fort Peck, Montana, special grandchildren Nathan, Alyssa, and Alexis Murdock, and his special friend Brian Healy. Huber is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews that he loved dearly and we apologize to anyone who was not listed, it was not our intent.

Huber was a very kind, humble, hardworking, funny, one of a kind man and we will miss him dearly.
